The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
