Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
