Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
