The warnings came to the people of Pharaoh. 41 The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One Exalted in Power, able to carry out His Will. 42 ARE, THEN, those of you who [now] deny the truth better than those others - or have you, perchance, [been promised] immunity in the [ancient] books of [divine] wisdom? 43 Or do they say: 'We are a gathering that will be victorious' 44 The army will be routed and put to flight. 45 Aye! the Hour is their appointed term, and the Hour shall be far more grievous and far more bitter. 46 The evil-doers are victims of error and madness. 47 On the Day when they shall be dragged into the fire on their faces, [they will be told:] "Taste now the touch of hell-fire!" 48 Surely We have created everything according to a measure. 49 and Our ordaining [a thing and its coming into being] is but one [act,] like the twinkling of an eye. 50 We have destroyed the likes of you; is there any that will remember? 51 And every thing they did is in the scriptures, 52 And every small and great thing is recorded. 53 Surely the godfearing shall dwell amid gardens and a river 54 in a seat of truth, in the presence of a Sovereign who determines all things. 55
