A numerous company from among the first, 39 and many from the later generations. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 "We have fallen into debt; 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
