The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
