He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
