The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
