The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
