Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 He said to his father: 'O father, why worship that which can neither see nor hear, nor helps you in anything? 42 “O my father, indeed a knowledge has come to me which did not come to you – therefore follow me, I will show you the Straight Path.” 43 O My father! worship not the Satan; verily the Satan hath been unto the Compassionate a rebel. 44 "O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (Allah) Most Gracious, so that thou become to Satan a friend." 45 He answered: "Dost thou dislike my gods, O Abraham? Indeed, if thou desist not, I shall most certainly cause thee to be stoned to death! Now begone from me for good!" 46 'Peace be on you' he (Abraham) said, 'I shall call upon my Lord to forgive you, for to me He has been gracious. 47 And I renounce you and that unto which ye call beside Allah; and I shall call unto my Lord; belike in calling unto my Lord I shall not be unblest. 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
