'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
