The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
