Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
