The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
