The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And no trifle. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
