But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
