And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
