Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
