۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
