The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
