Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); 77 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 he was among Our believing servants. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 When he came to his Lord with a free heart, 84 When he said to his father (paternal uncle) and his people, “What do you worship?” 85 Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire? 86 what, then, is your opinion of the Lord of the worlds? 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 Then said: Lo! I feel sick! 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said: 'What do you eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 when it is Allah who created you and all that you do' 96 They said: build for him a building and cast him into the flaming fire. 97 And they devised a plot for him, but We made them the humble. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 So We gave him tidings of a gentle son. 101 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast." 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 And We called out to him: "O Abraham! 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Thus do We reward the good. 110 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
