The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and the sea that is full 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
