The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
