He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider the sources of his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
