The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
