The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
