The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
