The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 they believe not in it, though the wont of the ancients is already gone. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
