The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
