The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
