Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
