The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
