Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
