Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
