Or did those in whose hearts is sickness think that God would not bring to light their rancour? 29 Now had We so willed, We could have shown them clearly to thee, so that thou wouldst know them for sure as by a visible mark: but [even so,] thou wilt most certainly recognize them by the tone of their voice. And God knows all that you do, [O men;] 30 And most certainly We will try you until We have known those among you who exert themselves hard, and the patient, and made your case manifest. 31 Those who disbelieved and barred others from Allah's Way and opposed the Messenger after the True Guidance had become manifest to them, they shall not be able to cause Allah the least harm; rather, Allah will reduce all their works to nought. 32 Believers, obey God and obey the Messenger: do not let your deeds go to waste -- 33 ۞ Verily, those who disbelieve, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e. Islam); then die while they are disbelievers, Allah will not forgive them. 34 So do not faint and call for peace; you shall be the upper ones, and God is with you, and will not deprive you of your works. 35 The life of this world is only a game, a pastime, but if you believe and are mindful of God, He will recompense you and will not ask you for your wealth. 36 If He should ask it of you and importune you, ye would hoard it, and He would bring to light your (secret) hates. 37 Behold, you are those who are called upon to spend in Allah's Way, but some of you are niggardly. Whoever is niggardly is in fact niggardly to himself. For Allah is All-Sufficient, whereas it is you who are in need of Him. If you turn away, He will replace you by a people other than you, and they will not be like you. 38
