The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
