The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
