Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
