The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
