The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
