Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
