And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
