Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
