▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
