And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
