S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they called, but time was none to escape. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
