The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
