The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
