The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
