The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
